VA SERVICE-CONNECTED DISABILITY COMPENSATION

What is an Accredited VA Claims Agent?

An accredited VA claims agent is an individual that has been accredited by VA to represent veterans before the Agency. VA’s Office of General Counsel (OGC) oversees the process, and required continuing education, for accredited claims agents.  These individuals have undergone a character review by OGC, been deemed to have good moral character, and have passed a written examination on VA law and procedures. An accredited VA claims agent, while not an attorney, is capable of providing competent, responsible, and qualified representation for VA benefits.
